JOHANNESBURG - Afrikaans will be reinstated as a medium of instruction at Unisa.

The Constitutional Court unanimously ruled that Unisa has until 2023 to change its revised language policy.

In 2016, Afriforum went to court, after the university decided to phase out Afrikaans as a language of learning.

The ConCourt ruled that Unisa failed to demonstrate it's not reasonably practicable to continue with Afrikaans as one of the languages of instruction.
