JOHANNESBURG - As the cost of living continues to rise, Debt Rescue is urging consumers to tighten their belts and spend their money wisely.
It warns that a staggering 88-percent of South Africans can no longer afford basic goods and services.
"We have been urging consumers to budget, it is that one thing that we all hate to do but it is the only thing that we can take control of right now," said Annaline van der Poel from Debt Rescue SA.
"Before we go shopping, we need to make sure we have our lists and we know what we are going to buy. Make sure we do our research and see where are the specials, don't buy items you don't need, and stick to your budget."
