JOHANNESBURG - The Chinese community in South Africa says it's worried about anti-Chinese sentiments since the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Chinese Association Gauteng chairperson Erwin Pon, says it's concerned about the activities online.
“What spread faster than the coronavirus, is actually this online scary and anti-Chinese sentiment. A lot of it we've seen in South Africa has been online. A lot of the online community has taken this time to discriminate a lot of Chinese people.”
Pon said there's been a spike in fake news.
South Africa has no confirmed case of the coronavirus.
