JOHANNESBURG - Cosatu says its warnings against potential corruption linked to personal protection equipment (PPE) was ignored.

The trade union says it warned the ANC early on when PPE contracts were announced.

Cosatu General-Secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali says they weren't taken seriously.

In Gauteng alone, more than160 companies are now being investigated for irregular tenders relating to PPE.

The province had been looted the most - a R2-billion PPE tender scandal is being probed.
