ALEXANDRA - A councillor in Alexandra township is being accused of only giving government food parcels to ANC supporters.

Residents said the councillor is also chasing away NGOs that want to distribute food parcels in the area.

In KwaZulu-Natal, some ANC leaders have filmed themselves giving away food parcels and posting their videos on social media.

It's alleged this is to score cheap political points.

Other party leaders have been accused of stealing food parcels that's just some of the issues discussed at a PEC meeting.

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe said the government will act swiftly and decisively in cases where there is evidence of wrongdoing. 

Mabe said social relief programmes must be coordinated with oversight mechanisms.

Mabe said government officials must not attract reproach through their actions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
