Counterfeit goods worth millions seized in JHB

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Revenue Service customs department and law enforcement agencies have uncovered nearly R20-million worth of counterfeit and illegal goods in the Johannesburg CBD.

Law enforcement has found various counterfeit medication, illegal skin care products and other items in an abandoned building.

Mlungisi Wondo from the SA Health Products Regulatory Authority says the products are not licenced or registered by SAHPRA.

"The products may be substandard or even counterfeit or contain a substance that is dangerous for humans."

Authorities say they know who they're dealing with, though there have been no arrests made.
