PRETORIA - The North Gauteng High Court has reserved judgment in the case between the Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane and Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.

President Cyril Ramaphosa's lawyer are arguing that the Public Protector's remedial action against Gordhan is limiting and irregular.

Ramaphosa's supporting the minister's application to interdict Mkhwebane's orders.

Mkhwebane has found that Gordhan violated the executive ethics code in the SARS investigative unit matter.

The Public Protector has ordered the President to act against Gordhan within 30 days, but Ramaphosa's counsel says such a lengthy process is impossible to implement within that deadline.

Mkhwebane's lawyer says Gordhan is undermining her powers and the office of the Public Protector.

Advocate Thabani Masuku says there's been a lack of support from organs of state for Mkhwebane's work.
