Court rules National Assembly speaker did not abuse animals

The animal cruelty case against National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise has been dismissed. POTCHEFSTROOM - The Potchefstroom Regional Court has cleared National Assembly Speaker, Thandi Modise of animal cruelty.

She has been facing numerous charges relating to neglect on her farm in the North West.

AfriForum's private prosecution unit brought the case against Modise.

But the court found there is no prima facie evidence against her.
