JOHANNESBURG - The latest COVID-19 figures are in and 8,524 new cases have been recorded.
Sadly, five more people died.

South Africa's total COVID-19 death toll now stands at 100,516.
27,424 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, with the positivity rate increasing to 31.1 percent.
Gauteng has the most new infections at 3,290 new cases.
KwaZulu-Natal has recorded 2,278 new infections.
And the Western Cape has 1,379.
