JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng has become the new epicentre of the coronavirus.

The province has overtaken Western Cape as the province with the highest numbers of cases cumulatively.

The province recorded more than 75,000 infections.

There were just over 9,000 new cases in the past 24 hours bringing the total to just over 224,000.

There have been 3,600 deaths and almost 107,000 recoveries.

Just under two million tests have been conducted.
