COVID-19: Company clarifies oral spray claims

JOHANNESBURG - ABEX Pharmaceutica says it's Cold Guard oral spray is not a treatment for COVID-19.

The company announced that the spray is able to deactivate 98.3% of the virus.

However, Company Chair, John Hallam, says the spray has not been tested on humans or animals.

"Firstly it is not a treatment, secondly there have been no trials on humans and animals, it has only been done in a laboratory and it was merely to test the mechanism of action which works exactly the same way as the cold virus," said Hallam. 

He says more trials are underway.
