JOHANNESBURG - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa has risen to 45, 973.

There are now 952 COVID-19 related deaths - 25 of these are from the Western Cape, 6 in KZN, 7 in Gauteng, and 6 in the Eastern Cape.

“Although the numbers of COVID-19 related deaths are rising, our mortality rate remains at 2%, well below the global average of 6%,” the Department of Health says.

Over 24,000 people have recovered so far.

According to the Department of Health, “this translates to a recovery rate of 52,8%.”
