JOHANNESBURG - The Eastern Cape is calling for medical reinforcements.

Premier Oscar Mabuyane says there has been an improvement in testing for COVID-19.

He gave an update on the state of the province on Tuesday amid the ongoing pandemic.

"New developments have happened since the last media briefing and we have seen significant improvement in testing.

"This enables us to know the magnitude of the challenge we are facing on this fight against COVID-19," he said

Mabuyane also applauded the frontline health workers in the province helping to battle the coronavirus.

He says as of Monday over 14,000 people have recovered from the virus.
