JOHANNESBURG - The South African Medical Research Council board says their president, Professor Glenda Gray didn’t breach any of their policies.
The assertion comes after she made a media statement criticising aspects of the COVID-19 national lockdown.
In a statement the board says they have discussed the challenges relating to the media statements made by Gray in her private capacity and they will not be instituting any further investigation on this matter.
The board has advised Gray, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize and the Ministerial Advisory Committee to resolve the issue of statements made to the media amicably.
Gray has sent a statement thanking the board on its decision.
She also reaffirms her commitment to doing all she can to the national effort against COVID-19.
Gray says she will remain at the disposal of the minister of health and the Ministerial Advisory Committee.
