Ramaphosa's announcement came with a travel ban on foreign nationals from high-risk countries such as Italy, Iran and China.

At a meeting with the South African National Editor’s Forum this week, Ramaphosa hinted that there may soon be another adjustment of lockdown regulations.

The president is expected to brief the nation next week.
