COVID-19 in SA: Alcohol's impact on the public health system

JOHANNESBURG - The National Command Council is expected to give direction on the impact of alcohol on the public health system.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says casualty cases are up 40-50-percent since lifting the ban on the sale of alcohol.

Mkhize and Gauteng MEC Bandile Masuku were at the Tshwane District Hospital to monitor levels of COVID-19 compliance.

Gauteng overtook the Western Cape making it the province with the most confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
