COVID-19: SA on the brink of third wave

JOHANNESBURG - There's growing anxiety over government's vaccine rollout.

Four provinces have confirmed that they are in the third wave.

At the same time, hospital admissions are on the rise.

One public health expert says this could have been avoided and that the hour of reckoning has arrived.

"Numbers are going up, we've vaccinated more than a million people, that's a million more we were about six months ago," said Dr Aslam Dasoo.

"Right now we have to focus on getting through the second wave and the president himself during his last address, exhorted the country to do that.

"We are just going to have to make our way through this third wave as best we can without having the benefit of being vaccinated,"
