JOHANNESBURG - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa has increased to 17,200.

The death toll has jumped to 312 and total recoveries are at 7,960.

The Northern Cape has also recorded its first death.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize announced the new stats on Tuesday night.
