JOHANNESBURG - Confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa have risen to 4,996 with the death toll increases to 93.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize delivered updated information on Tuesday night.

Mkhize says the lockdown helped reduce the rate of spread but didn't stop the spread.

COVID-19 has weakened the country's already fragile economy to unprecedented levels.
