JOHANNESBURG - Nurses' union Denosa says its concerned health workers will be bear the brunt over what it describes as a lack of proper planning.

The union says the government did not prepare for this third wave.

Denosa says there hasn't been much communication from government.

"We're already running out of bed spaces," said Denosa's Bongani Mazibuko,

"We're worried about the impact on the nurses themselves because that's where you'll start having a burnout."

Infections continue to rise amid concerns over a possible bed shortage.

Gauteng is currently the epicentre, making up about 60 percent of daily infections.
