JOHANNESBURG - The number of South Africans to have died of COVID-19 now stands at 12.

The number of confirmed cases has also risen to 1686.

Gauteng has the most cases in South Africa with 713 confirmed infections.

A 57-year-old man from the Western Cape died after being admitted to hospital on Monday.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize confirmed the latest figures.
