COVID-19 in SA | Deaths could be 'significantly' understated

There’s the national health department’s recorded COVID-19 deaths totalling 76,000. CAPE TOWN - More people may be dying due to COVID-19 who never knew they had it.

The SA Medical Research Council says there have been over 222,000 excess natural deaths since May 2020.

Researchers believe many of these deaths could be linked to the pandemic.

This differs greatly from the official COVID-19 death toll of 76 000.
