COVID-19 in SA | Sharp increase in new infections

JOHANNESBURG - The COVID-19 numbers seem to be ticking upwards.

The health department said 566 new cases were recorded on Wednesday.

Gauteng is far in the lead with 332 new cases.

It's followed by the Western Cape with 45 new infections and KwaZulu-Natal with 37.

Limpopo, which has been recording single-digit increases, reported 38 new cases.

The positivity rate has increased to 1.6 percent while the death toll has increased by 11.
