COVID-19 State of Disaster deadline looms

JOHANNESBURG - The National State of Disaster ends on Saturday and government is still to announce if there will be an extension.

It has been five months since the coronavirus pandemic was declared a national disaster.

The first expiry date was 15 June and since then it's been extended every month as required by law.

Meanwhile, several business organisations have started a nationwide campaign calling for an end to the COVID-19 lockdown.

They say it served its purpose and a further continuation will result in a humanitarian disaster.

The steering committee of this campaign includes well-known economists Dawie Roodt and Mike Schussler.
