JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng has received 15,000 J&J vaccines.
The vaccines will be saved for informal settlements and remote areas where it’s difficult to administer the Pfizer vaccine, as it's a double dose.
Gauteng Health MEC Nomathemba Mokgethi said with regards to the Pfizer vaccine, there are enough jabs in the province.
The Gauteng government is sticking to its target of 5 million people vaccinated by December.
The province has ramped up its vaccination drive by introducing pop-up vaccine sites at churches and taking jabs to informal settlements.
Mokgethi says she's confident they'll reach their target.
