BLOEMFONTEIN - Access to the COVID-19 vaccine registration portal is a major challenge for senior citizens in the rural parts of the Free State.

While more than 12,000 people over the age of 60 in the province have now registered for the second phase, many are still in the dark about the process.

The Free State has seen a spike in infections recently, with the National Institute for Communicable Diseases now calling for more testing and contact tracing to contain the situation.

But officials here are hopeful they will register more people in time for the second phase of inoculations.
