COVID-19 Vaccine | Western Cape sites empty of people

There are enough COVID-19 vaccine doses. There are enough sites to administer them. Now it’s time to open up the rollout to the 18 to 34-year-olds. The Western Cape government says that’s what’s needed to get vaccine registration numbers up. JOHANNESBURG - Vaccine sites across the Western Cape are running empty, not of vaccine doses but of people.

On a good day, the mega-site at the CTICC administers up to 1,800 COVID-19 doses.

It has the capacity to jab 4,000 people though.

Vaccine hesitancy and the spread of misinformation have been contributing factors to the low figures in recent weeks.

Authorities say religious and community leaders play a crucial role in leading people to vaccine sites.
