CPT firefighters working to douse train fires

Two trains were set alight at the Cape Town Central railway station. Firefighters are on the scene, trying to douse the blaze. The cause of the fire is still unknown and no injuries have been reported.

CAPE TOWN - Two trains were set alight at the Cape Town Central railway station on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters are on the scene, trying to douse the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and no injuries have been reported.

The City of Cape Town's Jermaine Carelse said two platforms were affected by the fire but the cause would need to be investigated by SAPS or Prasa.

Carelse confirmed the fires have been contained and with mop-up operations would shortly be completely extinguished.
