JOHANNESBURG - Kevin Allan from Municipal IQ, says it's not unusual for service delivery protests to spike during election season.
South Africans go to the polls next month.
Protests have flared up countrywide in Alexandra, Tshwane, Cape Town, Emfuleni, Kronstad and Soweto.
The protests have become the order of the day in parts of the country.
“These areas are thin areas that seem to have been left behind, there hasn’t been adequate attention been paid by a respective governing council or municipality,” Allan said.
