Debunking fake news on COVID-19 vaccines

JOHANNESBURG - Government communications has denied that its apparent inadequate vaccine information campaign is responsible for the drop in the number of people getting the jab.

This as data reveals that an average of 100,000 fewer people per day have been vaccinated in the last month in South Africa.

The hesitancy has been attributed to fake news about side effects as well as poor messaging.

Scientists now say they’re ready to respond.

The Health Department did not respond to requests to comment on its COVID-19 communications strategy.
