Decision on embattled eThekwini mayor expected

DURBAN - A decision is expected on Wednesday on whether eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede, will be allowed back at work.

Gumede's 30-day leave of absence ended on Tuesday.

She is facing fraud and corruption charges and is out on R50, 000 bail.

Gumede will return to court on 8 August.

The ANC hasn't yet decided on her fate, which means her leave may be extended until the matter is finalised.

Meanwhile, the DA is calling for the eThekwini Metro to be put under administration and to be dissolved.
