Dlamini was arrested in 2016 during protests for free higher education.

He said a criminal record will curb some of his future plans, but he is glad the case has finally been concluded.

Dlamini said he would be appealing to President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Justice Department for either a presidential pardon or an expungement of his criminal record in order to practice law.
