DoE waits for answers on KZN child rape

JOHANNESBURG - The Basic Education Department is still waiting for information around the reasons a Grade 7 KZN pupil was sent home for forgetting her mask.

The 12-year-old was raped after being turned away from school.

She had forgotten her mask and was told to go home and fetch it.

Department of Education spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said the child is receiving support after the assault.
