COVID-19 in SA: Curve flattening in Eastern Cape, says premier

EAST LONDON - Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane said the COVID-19 curve is flattening in the province.

He said there's been a consistent decline in the number of new daily infections.

Mabuyane said although the COVID-19 storm is not over yet, its end might be closer than expected.

The province's recovery rate is nearing 94 percent.

He said 85 healthcare workers have succumbed to COVID-19 in the province.

COVID-19 in SA: Eastern Cape's shortcomings

The premier said 466 deaths have been confirmed within a matter of nine days in the province due to COVID-19.

He sent condolences to all those who lost a loved one because of the virus.
