EC Health MEC talks about province's first COVID-19 case

PORT ELIZABETH - The Eastern Cape has confirmed its first COVID-19 case.

Premier Oscar Mabuyane has called for calm and vigilance.

Eastern Cape Health MEC Sindiswa Gomba said about four people were exposed to the woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 after travelling to Germany.

The contacts traced after her trip are being monitored for symptoms.

Her partner who also travelled to the European country had no symptoms following the trip.

Gomba said testing teams have been made available for large metropolitans in the province and the teams have now been extended to district hospitals.
