EFF defends protest against Gordhan

The EFF has warned that they will continue such protests until Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, is treated with respect.

JOHANNESBURG - The  Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is defending its actions against Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan, last week.

The red berets argue they were practicing their right to peaceful protest.

They warn they will continue such protests until Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, is treated with respect.

"There is nothing you can do, there is nothing you will say. You will never tell us how to conduct our revolution. As long as you show contempt to Chapter 9 institutions we'll hold you accountable," said Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, EFF spokesperson.

"Nobody touched Mr Gordhan, it was a peaceful protest," Ndlozi said.

EFF members were removed from Gordhan's budget brief in Parliament on Thursday after they tried to tried to disrupt the minister from speaking.
