EFF heads to court after Coligny convictions overturned

JOHANNESBURG - The EFF is heading to the Constitutional Court.

That's after the Supreme Court of Appeal overturned the convictions of the two men previously found guilty of the murder of a Coligny teenager.

Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte allegedly killed 16-year old Matlhomola Mosweu by throwing him out of a moving bakkie in 2017.

The teenager was accused of stealing a sunflower from a farm.

Doorewaard and Schutte were sentenced to an effective 18 and 23 years in prison respectively.

EFF leader Julius Malema says the party will fight the Supreme Court of Appeal's decision.
