Ekurhuleni mayor warns corrupt officials

JOHANNESBURG - Ekurhuleni Mayor Tania Campbell is warning city officials involved in corruption and bribery that they will be dealt with.

Angry Thembisa residents allege that government officials demand bribes when they seek help.

Campbell says claims are being investigated.

"The issue of unprofessional behaviour by our staff members is receiving my urgent attention," she said.

"I've instructed the administration to investigate incidents of bribery, corruption and collusion with so-called lawyers who are stealing you hard earned money. You pay these officials to do their work.

"They will be helping you going forward. Residents must be served."
