CAPE TOWN - Parliament is racing against the clock to give effect to a Constitutional Court ruling that will allow independents to be elected as National Assembly MPs.
But some opposition parties say the option they have been presented with, will defeat the purpose of demanding greater accountability from elected representatives.
It will avoid MPs being elected directly from constituencies.
The bill was presented to Parliament on Tuesday by Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi.
