JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Education Department wants to know why it took Parktown Boys High a full day to report a missing child.

Enoch Mpianzi died while on a Grade 8 camp in Brits in the North West.

His body was recovered on Friday morning after he went missing on Wednesday.

MEC Panyaza Lesufi said the department will conduct its own investigation and interview all relevant parties.

Meanwhile, the department has reported yet another school drowning, this time in Magaliesburg.  

Grade 7 pupil Keamohetswe Shaun Seboko was found dead in Laerskool Bekker's hostel swimming pool on Wednesday afternoon.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the 13-year-old's drowning.

Lesufi said he's disappointed that he only received the information on Friday afternoon.

He has conveyed his condolences to the family.
