EXCLUSIVE | Mandela’s boxing belt stolen

JOHANNESBURG - eNCA can reveal that the World Championship boxing belt that belonged to former President Nelson Mandela has been stolen.

It was a gift from renowned American boxer, Sugar Ray Leonard.

The belt was one of the most significant artefacts displayed at the famous Mandela House in Soweto.

Sources close to the Mandela House told eNCA when staff members reported for duty on 1 July, they noticed that locks appeared to have been tampered with.

When they went in, the belt was gone. They immediately reported the theft at the Orlando Police Station.

Officers later combed the scene and took fingerprints.

But to date, no one has been arrested.
