JOHANNESBURG - Democratic Alliance MP Dianne Kohler Barnard says the government needs to acknowledge the fear and danger, that rural communities live and work in.
There have been several farm attacks since the start of the lockdown, particularly heinous, with torture commonplace.
Kohler says the government needs to come up with plans to combat attacks and improve rural safety.
MPs discussed farm murders in Parliament on Tuesday.
African Christian Democratic Party leader, Kenneth Meshoe, is calling for the restoration of special rural safety units.
ANC MP Tina Joemat-Pettersson agreed that there should be special units to protect farms.
She says government is focusing on the safety of farmers and any farm murder should be condemned to the greatest degree.
