Fight against Southern Cape fires continues

GEORGE - Hundreds of firefighters continue to battle raging flames in George and Knysna in the Southern Cape.

Eight people, believed to be from the same family, have already lost their lives. 

Fire officials say several wildfires are still burning, with most brought under control.

UPDATE: Outeniqua fires spread

Many people have been evacuated, while some farmers are on standby for evacuation.

Motorists have been warned to drive with caution on several main roads around George. 

The N2 between the Tsitsikamma Toll Gate and Storms River Bridge remains closed. 

The fires have also caused several power outages.
