JOHANNESBURG - Firefighters continue to battle several blazes in the Overberg region of the Western Cape.
They've been working around the clock, but strong winds and flare-ups are making it harder.
At the same time, some residents are trying to pick up the pieces of their lives.
The blaze has affected many areas including Betty’s Bay, Franskraal, Karwyderskraal and Hermanus.
Over 12,000 hectares of vegetation have been destroyed.
The municipality has yet to establish the cause of the fires.
Those affected have had to move in with family members, while others took shelter in community halls.
Some of them were able to salvage a few of their belongings - others lost everything.
