JOHANNESBURG - The three Gauteng hospitals designated to deal with coronavirus cases are ready for action.

This is according to Gauteng Health MEC, Bandile Masuku.

LIST: South African hospitals to deal with coronavirus patients

Masuku and other provincial MECs expanded on plans to deal with the virus.

The Health MEC says Tembisa, Steve Biko Academic Hospital and Charlotte Maxeke hospitals are all prepared to admit COVID-19 cases.

“We are happy with the facility at Charlotte, we are happy with the facility at Thembisa and the facility at Steve Biko.

"These facilities are aimed at isolation, and why we chose them is the issue of the ventilation system they have at the hospital, which is not combined with the ventilation of the whole hospital.”

The Health MEC says he's satisfied with the recovery of the COVID-19 patient quarantined at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital and he's certain the province is well-prepared to deal with the coronavirus.
