Gauteng Transport promises action on Vereeniging taxi rank

JOHANNESBURG - After waiting almost 10 years for a new taxi rank in Vereeniging, Road and Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo says they are once again relooking at how to fix it.

For now, drivers can look forward to some amendments.

"In the past, there was an attempt to build a taxi rank it went wrong," he said.

"We have now appointed Gautrain management agency to take over the taxi rank.

"We have seen how Vereeniging has turned almost into a ghost town. GMA and the taxi industry agreed that in the short term they must stabilise the taxi rank."
