'Ghost employees' at Msunduzi Municipality

PIETERMARITZBURG - The Msunduzi Municipality in KwaZulu Natal is investigating if there are ‘ghost workers' on its payroll.

It initially could not account for 121 employees during a headcount.

The municipality, which includes the provincial capital, Pietermaritzburg, was placed under administration in 2019.

“About 121 staff members failed to present themselves, that led us to saying they should be suspended until they present themselves," Msunduzi mayor Mzimkhulu Thebolla.
