JOHANNESBURG - Good news for Independent Power Producers.

Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe, has begun the process of adding new electricity to the grid.

The gazetted approval opens the bidding process for new power producers.

Tenders have been earmarked mainly for wind and solar generators.

It is expected the first electricity would be fed into the grid by 2022.
