DURBAN - Embattled eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede says she is in limbo about her political future.

Gumede has been instructed by the ANC to extend her leave of absence while the party finalises her matter.

The mayor is facing fraud and corruption charges and is out on R50,000 bail.

Gumede is calling on the ANC to speed up its internal investigation so that she can move on with her life.

"I'm waiting for my leaders to let me know when I shall resume my duties,” Gumede said.

“I wish to apologise to those who were awaiting my return after my 30-day leave lapsed, but it didn't happen."

She denies mobilising her supporters to march in her support.

Gumede is due back in court on 8 August.
