Pieter Pretorius, Eskom's acting general manager of strategic marketing and branding told the state capture commission on Tuesday.
The R1-million was to sponsor the newspaper's business breakfast series.
“It was proposed that Eskom would sponsor the breakfast initially for R1-million a breakfast.”
Pretorius was giving evidence related to TNA.
